
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, he prayed that all the deeds performed in the past month of Ramadan would be blessed and accepted by Allah.
In the post, the king also called on all layers of society, regardless of race and religion, to celebrate Syawal by visiting one another to strengthen ties of friendship and reinforce unity in the community.
Sultan Ibrahim also called on all parties to take this opportunity to seek forgiveness, especially among family members, relatives and friends.
“Disputes are inevitable, more so our relationships with fellow humans, surely there will be some who feel offended or hurt. May this blessed month heighten our feelings of love and compassion for one another.
“In conclusion, let us pray to Allah that the country and Malaysians be bestowed with everlasting blessings, peace and prosperity. Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin,” Sultan Ibrahim said.
Meanwhile, several ministers and their deputies also expressed hope that the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration would strengthen national unity.
Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil said all Malaysians should heed the advice of the king to focus on a united society.
“As we enjoy the feasts and visits, let us not forget those less fortunate than us.
“Let us together pray to the Almighty for our brothers and sisters in conflict and turmoil to be given strength and perseverance in facing the challenges. Selamat Hari Raya, maaf zahir dan batin,” he said in a Facebook post today.
His deputy Teo Nie Ching called on all communities to continue nurturing unity and harmony, appreciate the diversity of cultures and religions in Malaysia, and build a better country based on the government’s Madani agenda.
“For those far away, utilise the available technology and applications to ensure that the bonds of kinship remain strong,” she said.
Higher education minister Zambry Abdul Kadir said he hoped that the observance and teachings of Ramadan and the Aidilfitri celebration would nurture unity and understanding.
“Let us pray that this Aidilfitri brings happiness, peace, and blessings to you and your family,” he said.
Deputy higher education minister Mustapha Sakmud asked that this Aidilfitri be celebrated with gratitude and humility, and for everyone to strengthen the bonds of kinship.
Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and wife Norhayati Musa also extended Aidilfitri greetings to all Muslims.
“We also seek forgiveness for any mistakes in words, and deeds.
“May this Aidilfitri be celebrated joyfully with family members and close friends … Let us strengthen our bonds of kinship. May Allah bestow mercy and forgiveness upon us,” he said.
Natural resources and environmental sustainability minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said this celebration was characterised as a day of victory for every Muslim as a result of the “battle” against the greatest enemy within: temptation.
