Hussein said testimony provided by a man who came forward to claim the luggage matches the leads they obtained from CCTV footage surrounding the mall.

“The police have identified the owner through CCTV footage and evidence from other parties. We also obtained seven fingerprints from the luggage.

“The police will continue our investigation and summon a few more witnesses to verify the testimony made by the claimant, including the sources of the money found in the luggage,” Hussein told reporters.

He said the luggage will be returned to the claimant once the investigation is concluded.

“The investigation paper also requires approval from the public prosecutor’s office. The bag will only be returned when the police are satisfied with the investigation results on ownership and the sources of the money,” said Hussein.

On March 29, Hussein said the director of a company had claimed ownership of the cash-filled suitcase found at a Damansara shopping centre’s car park and the claimant would make a statement to the police the following day.
