Sekretariat Solidariti Palestin (SSP) said the peaceful assembly after the Friday prayers will be held in conjunction with International Quds Day, and the participants will march from the Tabung Haji building to the United States embassy nearby at 2pm.
International Quds Day is held every year in various parts of the world on the last Friday of Ramadan to express support for Palestinians and protest Israel’s actions against them.
SSP senior member Tian Chua expressed hope that more than 10,000 people would join the rally as they gather in support of the Palestinian cause.
“What’s important is that the public must show their interest. If we compare with other cities (in western countries), we can see their gatherings are incredibly large.
“Even though the governments of these western countries support the zionist side, their people still come out to protest against the injustices,” Chua said at a press conference here.
Meanwhile, SSP spokesman Syed Sheikh Al-Attas Syed Hassan said the police have been notified about the upcoming rally.
“We informed the police about this gathering last week, particularly the Wangsa Maju and Dang Wangi district police headquarters.”
