PETALING JAYA:
Courier and delivery company Ninja Van Malaysia is conducting its own “rigorous” internal investigation following reports of robberies targeting safeboxes within the company’s premises by a group known as the “Ninja Van Gang”.

The company said the matter is also under investigation by the police, and that it would fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a swift resolution.

“We want to clarify that these acts are in no way associated with Ninja Van or our employees. Our priority has always been the safety and security of our customers’ parcels, as well as the welfare of our employees and partners.

“We are conducting our own rigorous internal investigation to ascertain the facts and implement measures to prevent any potential occurrences,” it said in a statement.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the five armed robbery suspects killed in a shootout with the police at Putra Heights, Selangor, the night before had robbed premises belonging to Ninja Van, targeting its safeboxes.

“We believe the gang had more than five members. They could have obtained information from insiders in the respective premises (that they robbed),” he said at a press conference.

Hussein also said the five men had criminal records for 50 offences among them.

“Our investigations found that the gang had committed 50 robbery cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

“They targeted factories, offices and houses. There were cases where they violently assaulted their victims,” he said.
