JOHOR BAHRU:
No stalls have been found selling burgers or Roti John at prices between RM30 and RM40 at a Ramadan bazaar here as claimed on social media, a government official said today.

An inspection at the bazaar two days ago showed that an average burger was sold at around RM6 to RM10 and Roti John between RM6 and RM15, said Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, Johor director of the ministry of domestic trade and cost of living.

“The inspection also found that there was no charge for plastic bags imposed at this Ramadan bazaar, as was reported,” she said in a statement today.

Lilis Saslinda said so far only one compound notice was issued at the bazaar for a trader who failed to put up a price tag in accordance with price control regulations.

Recently, a video recording by an individual went viral claiming that traders in the bazaar charge 50 sen for plastic bags, in addition to selling burgers at RM30 and Roti John at RM40.

Lilis Saslinda said 727 inspections were carried out at Ramadan bazaars in Johor since March 12, with three compound notices issued.
