SINGAPORE:
Former inspector-general of police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani was awarded the Distinguished Service Order by Singapore president Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Thursday.

Acryl Sani was conferred the award in recognition of his role in strengthening the close bilateral relations between the police force in both countries.

The Singapore police force said his leadership of their counterparts in Malaysia helped to enhance the safety and security of both countries by curbing threats from terrorism, drug syndicates and transnational crime.

“Under Tan Sri Acryl’s leadership, the collaboration between our police forces was substantially strengthened. Both forces enhanced cooperation in the areas of investigation, information and intelligence exchanges, as well as capacity building,” it said in a Facebook post today.

Singapore’s police commissioner Hoong Wee Teck said: “We will continue to work closely with the Malaysian police to combat transnational crime and overcome new and emerging security challenges.”

While here, Acryl Sani also made separate courtesy calls on Hoong and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
