India’s Narcotics Control Bureau nabbed Jaffer Sadiq Abdul Rahman in New Delhi, according to the ETV Bharat news portal. He was arrested in connection with the seizure of 50kg of pseudoephedrine, a chemical used in manufacturing methamphetamine.
NCB’s deputy director general Gyaneshwar Singh said that Jaffer, who is linked to prominent movie personalities, had confessed to producing the latest Tamil movie, “Mangai”, with drug money.
The agency is now looking into possible connections Jaffer had with Bollywood, Gyaneshwar said.
In 2019, Jaffer’s name cropped up after Mumbai customs discovered he was sending ketamine to Malaysia.
Gyaneshwar was quoted as saying that Jaffer had invested in real estate and built a hotel in Chennai using drug money.
