PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal says he will defend in court the remarks he had made against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former political secretary.

Wan Fayhsal said in a statement he would file his defence soon to a defamation suit brought against him by Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak. He said Farhash’s claim that he had been defamed was completely unfounded.

Farhash, the former Perak PKR chief, has sued Wan Fayhsal for RM10 million in defamation damages for claiming that he was involved in getting opposition MPs to support the ruling government.

“My defence will show that this claim is completely unfounded,” Wan Fayhsal said. “This is the nature of the Madani government today, where opposition exposés through police reports will be attempted to be blocked through civil suits.”

In his statement of claim filed with the High Court in Kuala Lumpur, Farhash had claimed that Wan Fayhsal made defamatory statements about him during a press conference at Parliament on Nov 14 last year.

He said Wan Fayhsal implied that Farhash had colluded with, and directed, an individual known as “Datuk Botak” to offer bribes or threaten MPs in an attempt to gain support for Anwar.
