Nazirah, a salesperson since 2009, said her actions stem from respect for her customers’ beliefs.
She said she has been practising this tradition for all her non-Muslim customers for years, providing a full pineapple with its crown intact for good luck to her Chinese customers and a tray of four limes and a coconut for her Hindu customers.
“The guiding principle in my life is ‘niat’ (intention). I did this out of respect for people of diverse faiths. It felt like the right thing to do in our multicultural society,” she told FMT.
“I’m quite surprised by the attention my video received, as this isn’t the first time I’ve done this. I’ve been following this practice for years,” she said.
Nazirah’s TikTok video showing her helping her Hindu customer has garnered nearly 700,000 views. In the video, she is seen carrying a tray with the ceremonial items for customers awaiting their new Proton Persona.

The new car owners and their families are then shown performing the Hindu customs.
In Hindu tradition, limes or lemons are placed beneath each wheel and driven over to dispel negative energy. Following this, a coconut is cracked open next to the car, and its water is poured over all four tyres while a prayer is recited by the owner.
