Communications ministry secretary-general Fauzi Isa made the announcement in a Facebook post today, congratulating the PKR man on his appointment, which takes immediate effect.
“May J-Kom continue to strengthen the Madani community, which is cultured in knowledge, digital skills, and patriotism,” he added.
Khairuddin succeeds Agus Yusoff, who stepped down from the position last November amid the controversy surrounding an alleged lewd conversation between him and another man.
Agus has since denied the allegation, saying he had been framed, and that the video clip of the conversation had been doctored. He also said he decided to resign because he had another job offer.
Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil previously said Agus’s replacement had been confirmed and would be announced later.
Khairuddin is a former two-term assemblyman for Paya Jaras in Selangor. He failed to retain the seat in the state elections last August.
He had also served as the state executive councillor in charge of youth, sports and human capital development, between 2018 and 2023.
