
Yuree Ranoff Bachuri, 40, Azharul Azuan Azan, 34, Tengku Izham Hamid, 22, Mahazir Nordin, 43, and Syamsul Qamar Ayob, 40, nodded after the charge was read to them before magistrate Nurdiyanah Nawawi.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The five men are jointly accused of murdering Shahril Samad at TPS 2/3, Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2, Beranang, at 9.54pm on Feb 20.
The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34 of the same act.
Section 302 provides for the death penalty, or up to 40 years in jail and whipping, upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Liyana Sulaiman while the accused, all of whom are employed as p-hailing riders, were represented by lawyer Mohd Hafiz.
The court allowed no bail and set April 25 for the submission of forensic and post-mortem reports.
