
According to a source, the 49-year-old was detained at noon yesterday after giving his statement at the anti-graft agency’s Negeri Sembilan office.
He is accused of abusing his position to favour his wife’s businesses to provide supplies and services for his department, with four companies receiving contracts totalling RM540,517.85.
He is being remanded for seven days until next Monday at the Negeri Sembilan MACC lockup.
State MACC chief Awangkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awang Ismail confirmed the arrest when contacted.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 for abuse of power.
