He said police had launched an investigation after receiving numerous reports, including from Taib’s children and lawyer, alleging that he had been abducted.

“He was taken from the hospital to his residence. Was he abducted or kidnapped? (This claim) certainly doesn’t make sense.

“His children and siblings are free to visit him at his residence, where there are doctors and nurses in attendance,” he said in a media conference after launching Op Selamat 2024 in conjunction with Chinese New Year here.

Razarudin added that the allegations came from inaccurate and unverified information circulated on social media, notably WhatsApp.

Earlier, Sarawak police commissioner Mancha Ata told the media that Taib was at his residence in Kuching with his wife Raghad Kurdi Taib.

Previously, police reports were circulated on social media, claiming that Raghad had removed Taib from a private hospital against medical advice. She later denied this.

Mancha added that police had received eight reports against Raghad.
