MACC nabs company owner for submitting false claims to buy TVs

The suspect allegedly used documents containing false details to secure RM20,000 for the supply of six 65-inch televisions.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the owner of a company under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for providing documents with false details.
PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested the owner of a company yesterday evening for submitting false claims to secure RM20,000 for the purchase of six 65-inch televisions.

According to a source, the suspect was arrested around 4.30pm at the Penang MACC office where he was summoned to have his statement recorded.

“The suspect submitted a supply quote containing false details to the parent-teacher association of a public school in Balik Pulau, Penang.

“However, he failed to deliver two televisions sets worth RM5,600,” the source said.

When contacted, Penang MACC deputy director Shukor Mahmud confirmed the arrest. He said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for providing documents with false details.

He said the suspect would be detained to have his statement recorded and released on MACC bail within 24 hours.
