PETALING JAYA:
Four people, including a police inspector suspected of kidnapping a businessman in Seremban, have been released on police bail.

Three other suspects, who are foreigners, have been handed over to the immigration department.

Newly minted Seremban police chief Hatta Che Din said Bukit Aman’s investigations were ongoing.

“As one of the suspects involved is a public officer, there are various aspects the police have to investigate,” he told FMT.

The seven were picked up on Jan 12 in a raid to facilitate an investigation into the kidnapping two days prior.

The arrests were made after a Bangladeshi man lodged a report claiming his brother had been taken away by a group of people in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Seremban.

Preliminary investigations showed the victim had borrowed RM70,000 from one of the suspects but failed to pay back his debt.

The case is being investigated for kidnapping under Section 363 of the Penal Code.
