Terengganu police chief Mazli Mazlan said that six men, aged between 25 and 40, were arrested based on videos taken by spectators at the scene.
“Based on the recordings, these people were the only ones involved,” he said, according to Harian Metro.
Mazli said the investigation papers had been completed and would be submitted to Bukit Aman for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. If found guilty, those involved could face up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Last week, TFL president Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said an in-depth investigation would be carried out based on a report by the match officials and security team on duty.
The match was played on the Terengganu State Sports Complex’s synthetic pitch in Gong Badak.
Hishamuddin, who is also the state youth development, sports and NGO committee chairman, said strict action would be taken against all parties involved, including the football clubs.
Describing the incident as “very shameful”, he said the TFL disciplinary committee would look into the report before a decision is made by the Terengganu Football Association.
