JOHOR BAHRU:
Three men believed to be behind a procurement cartel involving RM9 million worth of construction work at a navy camp in Johor were detained this evening.

According to sources, the trio, aged between 28 and 47, were arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Johor office here at 6pm.

The sources said the cartel allegedly involves 13 suppliers managing construction work at the navy camp.

They said payment has been made but construction has not been completed satisfactorily.

It is understood that the men were also arrested for allegedly issuing false claims.

Johor MACC director Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for false claims.
