PETALING JAYA:
The Perak fire and rescue department will produce a report of its investigation into the Molotov cocktail attack on a DAP MP’s home this week.

Department director Sayani Saidon said the report includes an analysis of the Molotov cocktail retrieved from the scene, Bernama reported.

“The department has conducted a comprehensive investigation. We are just waiting to verify the material contained in the two items sent to the lab in Kuala Lumpur,” she was quoted as saying.

Sayani said the investigation was focussed on identifying “elements of mischief”.

Last week, police arrested a man in relation to their probe into the attack on Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham’s home on Jan 10. Three cars were damaged in the incident.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested in Shah Alam.

Ngeh had said that those behind the fire might have been instigated by others, and misled by falsehoods created by PAS and Bersatu over a statement he made on Dec 28.

He courted controversy by suggesting that non-Muslim constitutional experts be appointed to the committee studying the conflicts between shariah laws and the Federal Constitution.

He later apologised, saying he was unaware the committee had actually been formed by the National Council for Islamic Affairs, chaired by the Sultan of Selangor.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain reportedly said the police were looking to determine whether the attack on Ngeh’s house was linked to his remarks.
