He said that greed and a thirst for luxury drove a small number of police personnel towards misconduct and wrongdoing, New Straits Times reported.
“The main cause (of misconduct) is personal weakness, a desire for a luxurious lifestyle, and greed. This is what we are addressing.

However, Allaudeen claimed that only a small number of personnel have integrity issues.
“Out of 10,000 personnel in Kuala Lumpur, (we found that) only 10 have ever committed offences, indicating that less than 1% are problematic,” he said.
Meanwhile, Allaudeen said that the four policemen who were alleged to have extorted a civilian at an apartment in Kepong on Jan 4 have now been suspended from duty.
“We have completed the investigation into this case, and they will be charged soon. I reiterate that the police will not compromise when it comes to any wrongdoing committed by its personnel,” he said.
