PM and wife attend Brunei prince’s wedding

They were among 5,000 guests, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong, who were invited by the Sultan of Brunei.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail have extended prayers and well-wishes for the marriage of Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah and his wife Dayang Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic.

Anwar and his wife were among a host of Asian and world dignitaries invited by the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, for the wedding of his fourth son.

The marriage was solemnised in a ceremony that took place at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on Thursday.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, were among the guests.

Anwar said he had the opportunity to meet other Asean leaders who also attended the wedding, including Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The prime minister posted photographs of the ceremony on Facebook.

Prince Mateen, 32, a helicopter pilot and a major in the Brunei air force, is sixth in line to the Brunei throne. Anisha, 29, is the granddaughter of the sultan’s special adviser, Pehin Dato Isa, and is reported to own a fashion and tourism company.
