KUALA NERUS:
The Terengganu Football League (TFL) is investigating a fight yesterday between the NAG FC and Kesa FC teams, which resulted in a person being seriously injured.

TFL president Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said an in-depth investigation will be carried out based on a report by the match officials and security team on duty.

The match was played on the Terengganu State Sports Complex’s synthetic pitch in Gong Badak.

Hishamuddin, who is also the state youth development, sports and non-governmental organisations committee chairman, said strict action will be taken against the parties involved, including the football clubs.

Describing the incident as “very shameful”, he said the TFL disciplinary committee will look into the report before it is decided upon by the Terengganu Football Association.

He expressed sympathy for the victim, who was seriously injured in the head and face.

Hishamuddin said TFL has apologised to the parties concerned, and would strengthen security at every football match organised in the future.

Kuala Terengganu deputy police chief Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Ismail confirmed that he has received a report regarding the brawl.

He said the investigation will be conducted under Section 146 of the Penal Code for rioting.
