Shamsul also seeks RM5 million in compensation from Badrul, who is known as Chegubard. In a letter of demand, Shamsul said he would file a defamation suit should an apology and retraction not be made.
Shamsul’s lawyers said Badrul had received the letter of demand by hand at the Setapak police station this afternoon, following a police report Shamrul lodged on Jan 6.
Badrul had alleged in a Facebook video on Jan 5 that Shamsul was connected with abuse of funds at an NGO.
Shamsul said the allegation was baseless, not backed by evidence, and was intended to tarnish the good name of the Prime Minister’s Office.
In the video, Badrul said he was gathering evidence of corruption, allegedly by a senior political secretary to the prime minister. He alleged the aide’s staff and proxies were using their political allies to abuse NGO funds.
