MetMalaysia issues continuous heavy rain warning for Pahang, Johor

Nadma reports 61 roads are still closed in Pahang, Johor and Terengganu due to floods, damaged or collapsed bridges, and landslides.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous heavy rain in several localities in Pahang and Johor, expected to occur from today until Sunday.

MetMalaysia said the affected areas are the Rompin district in Pahang as well as Segamat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi in Johor.

It also issued a warning of continuous rainfall for the same period in the two states,  involving Pekan district in Pahang as well as the Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru districts in Johor.

A warning of continuous rainfall was also issued in Sarawak, affecting Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei and Mukah.

Meanwhile, the latest report by the national disaster control centre of the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) said the number of flood victims in Johor and Pahang dropped slightly to 5,800 at 45 relief centres as of 6am today, compared to 5,897 last night.

The report said 61 roads are still closed due to floods, damaged or collapsed bridges and landslides, including Jalan Durian Mentangau in Dungun, Terengganu, Jalan Petri Jaya in Kota Tinggi, Johor, and Jalan Pekan Sehari Kampung Awah in Maran, Pahang.

Two rivers in Johor – Sungai Johor in Kota Tinggi, and Sungai Endau in Kluang – still recorded a dangerous level.

In Pahang, the water at Sungai Pahang at Pekan, Bera and Maran, as well as Sungai Rompin was still at a dangerous level.

It was also the same for Sungai Arau in Perlis, and Sungai Terengganu in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.
