Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the two uniformed policemen had detained the victim and a male Malaysian student at Bukit Ampang at 10.09pm over a traffic offence.
He said they brought the duo to separate locations, and one of them allegedly raped the girl.
Hussein said the other policeman brought the male victim to a bank and demanded that he withdraw money so he could pay for the traffic offence.
“The two suspects were arrested yesterday and have been remanded for seven days,” he said in a statement.
One of the policemen is being investigated for rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 20 years in jail and whipping.
The other is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery. If convicted, he could face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine or whipping.
“Investigations are ongoing and we urge those with information to contact their nearest police station or the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at 03-42897222.
“The police will not compromise with any officer or personnel who is involved in criminal cases or any wrongdoing. The investigations will be conducted transparently,” said Hussein.
