PETALING JAYA:
Real estate firm Juwai IQI has sacked an employee who turned away a potential client because of her race.

Juwai IQI co-founder and group CEO Kashif Ansari said the real estate agent had “acknowledged his wrongdoings” and “accepted the facts of the case”.

“Consequently, he is being terminated and he will soon receive his formal notification via e-mail,” Kashif told FMT.

Earlier today, X user @kalvinderks_ alleged that an agent with Juwai IQI had discriminated against Indians and Punjabis.

She said the agent’s response to her enquiry was initially fine, but he was rude after learning her name and race.

Juwai IQI then apologised and said it would conduct an immediate and thorough internal investigation into the complaint.

Stating that its staff and agents come from all walks of life, the company stressed that it would not tolerate any form of discrimination.

“We have zero tolerance towards discrimination and racism and will act in the strongest manner against it,” it said on X.
