In a report posted on its website, EAIC said 45 of the 529 complaints last year were related to the immigration department.
This was followed by the road transport department (27), customs department (17), and the fisheries department (14).
Thirteen complaints each were lodged against the National Anti-Drugs Agency and the national registration department.
However, no details on the nature of the complaints were provided.
Most of the complaints came from Selangor (142), followed by Kuala Lumpur (95), Johor (60), and Perak (41). Fewer than 40 complaints were recorded from other states.
The EAIC stopped accepting complaints made against the police or its officers in July 2023 after they were removed from the list of agencies under its purview.
This was in line with the Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2022 which came into effect on July 1.
Set up in 2011, the EAIC is a federal statutory body tasked with investigating and conducting hearings into complaints against some 20 enforcement agencies.
