MACC summons Daim’s wife, 2 sons

The trio will be questioned at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters tomorrow morning.

MACC is probing former finance minister Daim Zainuddin for alleged corruption and money laundering.
PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has summoned Daim Zainuddin’s wife and their two sons in relation to its probe into the former finance minister.

Daim’s wife, Naimah Khalid and their sons are expected to be questioned by the anti-graft agency at its headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow morning.

Last month, MACC seized the 60-storey Ilham Tower, reportedly belonging to Daim and his family, under Section 38(1) of the MACC Act 2009 which deals with the seizure of immovable property.

MACC chief Azam Baki later revealed that the agency was probing Daim for alleged corruption and money laundering.

Daim has since denied any corrupt act or wrongdoing and labelled the probe into him as “nothing short of a political witch hunt”.

Lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal will be representing the trio.

“They were informed about the matter yesterday evening,” Rajesh told FMT.

Rajesh is also representing four others who are being probed over the same case.
