Sinar Harian reported party president Peter Anthony as saying that PKDM had filed a police report against allegations made on a blog linking the party to attempts to topple the government.
Anthony said three members of his party’s leadership – deputy president Henry Saimpon, secretary-general Gaim Lunkapis, and information chief Oswald Aisat Igau – filed the report at the Penampang police headquarters today.
“The report was filed to request an investigation into the blog’s operators for incitement and making false statements.
“These allegations are baseless, and I want to reiterate that PKDM remains steadfast under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government,” he said in a statement.
Anthony also said any attempt to overthrow Anwar’s unity government would be unreasonable and should be avoided.
“Anwar is the only prime minister to have done many things for Sabah and Sarawak, which we did not experience during previous administrations.
“Any attempt to destabilise the government will only hinder efforts to develop the country, especially in terms of economic growth,” he said.
Anthony also said investors were beginning to have confidence in the unity government, and if the country’s politics became turbulent again, the government’s efforts to save the nation would have been in vain.
