Police probe mystery death of 4-month-old baby

An autopsy revealed head injuries, but police found no sign of physical injuries on the body.

Police said there was no trace of physical injuries on the baby when it was brought in dead to the clinic.
PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation into the death of a four-month-old baby in Negeri Sembilan on Friday after an autopsy revealed the baby had died of head injuries.

Police said there was no trace of physical injuries on the baby when it was brought in dead to the health clinic in Nilai.

According to Sinar Harian, Nilai police chief Abdul Malik Hasim said a woman who was looking after the baby had brought the infant to the clinic.

He said the babysitter had fed the baby milk earlier in the morning and placed the child on a mattress. Not long after that, she found milk dripping from the baby’s mouth.

“The woman then carried the baby and patted him on the back before asking for a neighbour’s help to bring the child to the clinic. Checks by the clinic found that the baby was already dead,” he said.

Although police found no traces of physical injuries, a post-mortem at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban concluded that the baby died from head injuries.

Malik said no arrests have been made yet, Bernama reported.
