PETALING JAYA:
The works ministry has received complaints about 21 disaster locations involving seven states since the onset of the northeast monsoon in November.

Works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said eight of these complaints involve state roads and 13 involve federal roads. He said the data was accurate as of Friday.

Nanta said the states are Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, Perak, Terengganu, Kedah and Selangor.

“Ten of the complaints involve landslides, four of the complaints involve floods, another four complaints are about road collapses, and three complaints are about bridges that have been damaged or collapsed,” he was quoted by Berita Harian as saying after visiting a damaged road in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

He said most of the affected areas are in Johor (six areas), followed by Pahang (four), Kelantan and Perak (three each), Kedah and Terengganu (two each) and Selangor (one).

In a Bernama report yesterday, Nanta said the ministry has allocated more than RM50 million to repair roads which have collapsed and or been damaged because of the recent floods.

He said the allocation involved 81 projects in four states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor and Pahang.
