Police seize RM21mil in smuggled wildlife, fake medicine and diesel

PETALING JAYA:
The police have seized smuggled wildlife, subsidised petrol and fake medicine worth over RM21 million, and nabbed 15 people in raids since Jan 1.

Bukit Aman internal security and public order department director Hazani Ghazali said the police conducted nine raids into wildlife smuggling and other crimes on fake medicines and smuggling of subsidised diesel.

He added that items with a total value of RM116,000 was seized under the Wildlife Conservation Act, while RM6,601,449 worth of goods was seized under the Control of Supplies Act.

Items valued at a total of RM13.2 million were seized under the Food Act, RM1,500,000 under the National Forestry Act and RM500,000 under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations and the Poisons Act.

The raids were conducted in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Perlis, a police statement read.
