Flood victims in Johor top 1,400

This is an increase from the 1,024 evacuees recorded last night.

The number of flood victims in Johor had increased to 1,481 people across 13 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) as of 6am today, compared to 1,024 people last night.

According to the latest report by the national disaster command centre under the National Disaster Management Agency, four PPS in Johor Bahru are accommodating 420 victims, six in Kota Tinggi are housing 720 victims, two in Mersing are sheltering 271 victims and one in Kluang is housing 70 victims.

It also said that four rivers had reached danger levels, namely Sungai Tenglu Besar Mersing, Johor at 2.12m with a decreasing trend, Sungai Endau Kluang, Johor (14.74m with an increasing trend), Sungai Perak Hulu Perak, Perak (112.04m with a decreasing trend) and Sungai Arau, Perlis (24.15m).

Meanwhile, 23 roads are closed due to flooding, damaged bridges or landslides.

Among the roads affected are Jalan Durian Mentangau in Dungun, Terengganu; Jalan Raya Timur Barat Kupang-Gerik-Jeli in Hulu Perak, Perak; Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang in Johor; Jalan Bukit Jugra in Kuala Langat, Selangor; and Jalan Temerloh-Jerantut in Temerloh, Pahang.
