Magistrate Siti Norhidayah Noor granted a three-day remand order for the four, until Jan 7, following an application by MACC this morning.
According to a source at the anti-graft agency, the four male suspects, aged between 40 and 60, were detained between 5pm and 6.30pm yesterday at the Kedah MACC office after providing their statements.
“Based on investigations, more than RM6 million was channelled into an account belonging to the football association,” the source said.
“The alleged bribes were believed to have been given in exchange for assistance in securing tenders for constructing a racing circuit, as well as for managing, operating, and maintaining five water retention ponds in the state.”
The alleged offence is said to have taken place in 2020.
MACC investigation division senior director Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 16a(B) of the MACC Act.
