Kittu, fondly known as Uncle Kittu, said he had been offered an extension of his contract with the school until the end of this year.
“I feel extremely happy to be back after receiving the call from the school on Jan 1,” he told FMT.
In November, a video of his farewell had gone viral on social media, showing the security guard being showered with love and gifts from students and teachers.
The clip was viewed more than 2.1 million times across all social media platforms and earned over 200,000 likes.
Uncle Kittu said a job offer at a different school in Taman Sri Klebang had fallen through, so the call to resume his duties at SK Bandar Baru Putera was a blessing.
“They (the students) were very excited to see me and asked me to promise that I would never leave again,” he said, adding that he was grateful to the students’ parents for their unwavering support.
Earlier, Utusan Malaysia quoted the school’s parent-teacher association secretary Abd Halim Majid as saying that the proposal to offer Uncle Kittu a contract extension was put forward by students’ parents.
“I then asked for the parents’ opinions on whether Uncle Kittu should be brought back to work here, and out of the 400 responses received, not a single one objected.
“So, I discussed it with the company he works for, and finally approval was granted for him to resume duties at this school,” he said.
