PETALING JAYA:
A domestic worker was arrested on Sunday following the discovery of an infant’s body buried behind a house in Kangar, Perlis the day before.

Kangar police chief Yusharifuddin Yusop said the suspect is a 24-year-old Indonesian woman, who is also a single mother, Harian Metro reported.

The arrest was made a day after a teacher lodged a police report following the discovery behind his house.

Yusharifuddin said the dead infant was the suspect’s son.

She had given birth to him at a house in Taman Mutiara, Kangar on Dec 20 only to discover when bathing him that he was unconscious.

The suspect, according to Yusharifuddin, panicked and dug a hole five inches deep behind her neighbour’s house at 6.30am on Dec 21, and buried her son in the shallow grave.

The body was taken to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.

Yusharifuddin said the remand for the suspect, who is being probed for concealing a birth, has been extended until Friday.
