10,000 flood victims at relief centres in four states

Water levels at rivers in Kelantan, Perlis, Perak and Selangor at danger mark.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The number of flood victims in four states dropped slightly to 10,000 people sheltering at 37 temporary flood relief centres at 8pm tonight.

The latest flood report by the National Disaster Management Agency showed that 9,667 people remained at 27 centres in Kelantan. The centre at Pasir Mas accommodated 6,347 victims, Tumpat (2,842 victims), Jeli (411) and Kuala Krai (67).

In Terengganu, the number of victims also dropped to 148 people taking shelter at three centres while in Johor, the number of flood victims remained at 54 in the Segamat district.

In Pahang, the number of flood victims in Bera, Maran and Temerloh also recorded a drop to 131 people.

The water levels of the Sungai Golok and Sungai Kelantan were reported to be at a dangerous level as of 8 pm tonight.

Three rivers in Selangor, namely Sungai Buloh in Kuala Selangor, Sungai Klang in Klang and Sungai Selangor in Gombak, as well as Sungai Perak in Hulu Perak and Sungai Arau in Arau, Perlis are also at danger levels.

The report said 44 roads were closed in Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor. Among them are the Kuala Lumpur-Bentong road (Jalan Lama Bentong) in Pahang and Jalan Bukit Jugra in Selangor.
