Anwar, police opposing ex-research assistant’s bid to get lie detector test report

The High Court will hear the matter on Feb 21.

Yusoff Rawther filed a suit against Anwar Ibrahim in 2021, claiming that he had been sexually assaulted at the PKR president’s home in Segambut.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Anwar Ibrahim and the police are opposing an application by the PKR president’s former research assistant, Yusoff Rawther, to produce a lie detector test report administered by police on him four years ago.

The polygraph report is linked to Yusoff’s account of the alleged sexual assault on Oct 2, allegedly perpetrated by Anwar.

Yusoff had applied to the High Court three months ago to obtain the polygraph report conducted by police on Dec 19, 2019.

Anwar’s lawyer Navpreet Singh said the application will be heard before Justice Johan Lee on Feb 21.

“The court has also directed parties to file their written submissions by Jan 15, ” he told reporters after case management before senior assistant registrar Syalia Ain Zainuddin today.

Federal counsel Safiyya Omar appeared for the police while Haniff Khatri Abdulla represented Yusoff.

Yusoff had filed the suit against Anwar in 2021, claiming that he had been sexually assaulted at the latter’s home in Segambut.

He alleged that as a result of the incident, he was accused of plotting to bring down Anwar and damaging his political career.

He also said the accusations had affected his mental health.

Anwar denied the claim and has filed a countersuit.
