MACC urges victims of fake federal awards scam to come forward

The anti-graft agency says five victims have been interviewed but it needs more to round up its probe.

PUTRAJAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today urged the victims of a group selling fake federal awards to come forward to facilitate investigations.

MACC investigation division senior director Hishamuddin Hashim said seven victims had been identified so far and five of them had been interviewed.

“We believe there are several other victims who need to come forward to help complete the investigation.”

He said anyone with information on the case can contact investigating officer Aiman Jamil at 03-8870-0473 or 017-282-0484.

Earlier this month, six people, including two women and the president of an NGO, aged 30 to 50, were remanded for alleged involvement in a group that sold fake federal awards, including “Tan Sri”, for as much as RM2 million each.
