She said this over the integrated operation carried out by the general operations force at Jalan Silang, in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday, adding that she was awaiting more information on the matter, Bernama reported.

“The traders should make the most of the licences that have been granted to them and not ‘give’ them to foreigners to run businesses.

“We should also conduct these operations at other locations (in the city),” she was quoted as saying at an event in Kuala Lumpur today.

“It is also one of DBKL’s priorities to address the issue of illegal foreign traders in main business locations in the federal capital.”

Yesterday, police detained 1,101 undocumented migrants, including two children, and seized contraband worth RM104,000 during the raid at Jalan Silang.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid said those detained will be handed over to the immigration authorities.

He added that the raid, dubbed “Op Khas”, focussed on the illegal businesses that were set up in the area and that it was conducted following police reports, although he did not go into specifics.
