Man charged with wife’s murder

Izzat Saat faces a possible death penalty if convicted.

SHAH ALAM:
A self-employed man was charged at the magistrates’ court here today with the murder of his wife.

Izzat Saat, 38, nodded after the charge was read to him before magistrate Farah Rosnan.

No plea was recorded as the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Izzat was accused of murdering Nurul Qurraisyia Zulkafli, 44, at a house in Sungai Congkak, Shah Alam, between 10.30pm on Dec 14 and 10.30pm on Dec 15.

The charge was framed under the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for up to 40 years, upon conviction.

The court fixed Feb 9, 2024 for the next mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Saidah Fasihah Che Yussoff prosecuted while the accused was represented by Rezal Mazli Muin.
