
A statement from the group said five of the runners who had gone to the hill at 3pm for their monthly event did not return in the evening. None of them brought along torchlights and handphones.
A search-and-rescue party was jointly mobilised by the Ipoh district police and the fire and rescue department late yesterday.
The runners are yet to be found at the time of writing.
Silvercity Hash House Harriers launched another search early today.
“Other chapters planning to run around this area today kindly avoid (the area) due to the ongoing search. You may take part in the search party as well,” said the group.
The group’s assistant secretary, Ramesh Periasamy, told FMT one of the missing runners is its general manager, Gunasundaram.
FMT has reached out to the Ipoh district police for the latest updates on the search.
Seven years ago, a 22-year-old woman was rescued by the Ipoh fire and rescue department after she went missing while hiking up Bukit Kledang with her husband.
