PETALING JAYA:
A 34-year old woman detained over a drug-related offence in Langkawi has died three days after she was arrested, police said today.

Bukit Aman’s integrity and compliance department said the woman was arrested on Dec 12 after she was found to be in possession of drugs and consumption.

The department’s director, Azri Ahmad, said the woman was then placed in the lock-up at the Kuah police station. Three days later, she complained that she was feeling unwell and was taken to hospital for treatment. She died the next day.

A post mortem will be conducted tomorrow to determine the cause of death, the police statement said. An investigation will be carried out by the integrity and compliance department and the custodial deaths unit.
