Wahab to haul Chegubard to court for defamation

Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, failed to respond to a letter of demand sent earlier this month.

Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani’s lawyer said his client demanded an apology as well as compensation from the Bersatu man for the circulation of a video.
PETALING JAYA:
Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, a junior officer at the community communications department (J-Kom) who is at the centre of an alleged lewd video recording, is set to sue Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin for defamation and circulation of the video.

Wahab’s lawyer Faizal Rahman said Badrul, better known as Chegubard, had failed to respond to a letter of demand sent earlier this month.

Faizal said his client demanded an apology as well as compensation from Badrul for the circulation of the video.

A similar letter of demand was also sent to J-Kom education and training division director Hakim Ramlee. Wahab is currently reviewing Hakim’s response.

“As for now, Wahab is reviewing the final draft of the (writ of) summons. We expect the document to be filed against Chegubard as soon as possible. An injunction will also be filed immediately,” he told FMT.

Last month, a three-minute-long recording showing a video call between a man allegedly resembling former J-Kom director-general Agus Yusoff and another person went viral on social media.

Agus claimed the video had been edited and has lodged a police report.

Wahab, who is also the vice-chairman of Hulu Langat PKR Youth, had earlier this month claimed he was sexually harassed by Agus.

An investigation into the video is being carried out by Bukit Aman’s classified crime investigation unit.
