PETALING JAYA:
The clothes worn by murder victim Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin have been sent for analysis as police say they are seeking new leads in the investigation.

Zayn, aged 6, who was autistic, was found dead at a stream near Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai here on Wednesday.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said: “We are hoping for clues from the forensic analysis so as to narrow down the scope of our investigation,” Bernama reported.

He said police have recorded statements from 20 people, including the boy’s parents and the man who found the body, and have conducted interviews at 540 households in the area. There are a total of 2,484 units there, he said.

“The information received so far is very limited and we are working hard to gather information that could assist investigations while waiting for the results of the forensic analysis from the chemistry department.”

Petaling Jaya police chief Fakhrudin Abd Hamid said the full autopsy report would not be made public as it might disrupt investigations. He said the police needed to preserve the confidentiality of the information they had, so that the investigation could be completed properly.
