Bukit Aman internal security and public order department director Hazani Ghazali said the six men were arrested in Port Klang on Dec 6. In a separate raid today on an oil tanker, police seized some 139,000 litres of subsidised diesel and oil, valued at RM14.3 million.
He said the authorities conducted a total of 66 raids and operations on controlled goods and subsidised diesel this year, seizing RM73.8 million in goods and arresting 240 people.
4 arrested, diesel ring broken
The domestic trade and cost of living ministry said it had smashed a syndicate involved in misappropriating subsidised diesel and arrested four men in Klang.
“The syndicate used a modified bonded lorry to buy subsidised diesel from petrol stations in the Klang Valley. The diesel was kept in an illegal store before it was distributed to the market in another lorry,” the ministry said in a statement today.
The four suspects, aged 25 to 30, included two foreigners.
The ministry said RM88 million in goods have been seized and 638 people arrested since March 1.
