This is to prevent a recurrence of power disruptions at the premises.

“At present, there are two sources of electricity – one directly routed from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and seven sets of generators for additional supplies.

“However, we plan to add another main distribution substation as a second direct route from TNB,” Fazli said, as reported by Bernama.

Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting at the Johor Bahru city council tower, Fazli said the installation of the second direct route is expected to start next year and will take about a year to be fully implemented.

He said TNB is also identifying several suitable electricity supply routes for the complex and will propose these to the government soon.

Yesterday, menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi slammed TNB after a scheduled electricity supply cut turned into a prolonged blackout at the Sultan Iskandar building.

In a Facebook post, Onn Hafiz shared a TNB notice on the scheduled supply disruption, slated to take place from 8pm on Tuesday to 4am yesterday, for maintenance works. The areas included the Sultan Iskandar building, including the CIQ complex, and Johor Bahru Sentral.

However, according to social media posts, the blackout had remained even at 9am, causing jams on the Causeway link as immigration officers were forced to conduct their processes manually.
