KUALA LUMPUR:
The sessions court here allowed a printer’s bid for a summary judgment against PAS and its mouthpiece, Harakah, to recover RM656,233.69 in unpaid printing fees.

Judge Lailatul Zuraida Harron @ Harun entered a summary judgment against the party and Harakah after finding that they had previously acknowledged the sum owed through their correspondence.

“The court considered this as clear admission by the defendants (PAS and Harakah) regarding their debt to the plaintiff (NAJ Press Resources Sdn Bhd), and it should bind them accordingly,” she said.

She noted that part payment of the total sum owed was made on Oct 31, 2017. However, there was a balance of RM656,233.69.

“The court believes that the defence raised is merely a bare denial, and the facts (raised) about another printing company not relevant to this claim are irrelevant and an attempt to mislead the court,” Lailatul said.

It was reported in 2019 that NAJ Press Resources issued a letter to PAS and Harakah demanding them to pay RM3,053,204.59 in printing fees.

The party’s secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had said there was a sum of money owed to the printer, but denied they attempted to avoid paying.
