The 13 year-old boy was charged for attempting to rob Lee Ang Hie in Taman Keladi on Nov 27, Sinar Harian reported.

If found guilty, he may face a jail term of up to seven years.

Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani granted RM2,000 bail with one surety. She also fixed Jan 17 as the next mention date.

Deputy public prosecutor Amirul Halimi Md Salleh appeared for the prosecution while the boy was represented by Duratul Ain Mahmud Morshid from the National Legal Aid Foundation.

The police arrested the teenager for holding an elderly e-hailing driver at knifepoint last week.

Kuala Muda police chief Zaidy Che Hassan was reported saying the incident occurred at around 5.43pm when the 65-year-old driver picked up the teenager in Taman Keladi for a drop-off in Bandar Sri Astana.

A 90-second video clip showing the teenager pointing a knife at the e-hailing driver went viral on social media.
