Cops seize nearly RM1bil worth of contraband in November raids

PETALING JAYA:
The police seized close to RM1 billion worth of items in raids nationwide in November.

The internal security and public order department said the police conducted a total of 7,033 raids and operations, seized items worth RM920,047,558.70, and detained 5,099 individuals during the month.

“The department’s operations included anti-smuggling operations, anti-trade fraud operations, and integrated treasury operations involving the seizures of frozen foods, counterfeit medicines, undeclared goods, wildlife and various controlled items,” it said in a statement today.

The raids involved the department’s wildlife crime bureau, the special investigations division, the General Operations Force, the marine police and the Federal Reserve Unit.

“The department is highly committed to assisting the ministries and agencies under the government by launching quality operations to address issues related to public peace and safety.

“The participation and cooperation of the public in providing information to the police are highly encouraged to effectively eradicate criminal activities of this nature,” tit said.
