PUTRAJAYA:
The Court of Appeal has deferred its decision on former Felda chairman Isa Samad’s appeal against his conviction in a corruption case.

The appeals court was initially scheduled to deliver its ruling on Isa’s appeal tomorrow. No reasons were given for the deferment.

A new date for the decision will be set tomorrow.

In 2021, the High Court convicted Isa on nine corruption charges involving the acceptance of RM3.09 million in kickbacks for approving Felda’s purchase of a hotel in Kuching in 2014.

The money was paid by Sarawak businessman Ikhwan Zaidel to Isa for approving Felda’s purchase of the hotel.

Isa was sentenced to six years in prison and fined RM15.4 million.

The Court of Appeal had on Oct 16 heard submissions from Isa’s defence team and the prosecution.
